This policy explains how Shelford Heating uses cookies and similar technologies on this website. Cookies are small files stored on your device. Some are needed to remember your preferences or protect the website, while others can help measure how a website is used.
Your choice
Analytics is off until you select Accept analytics cookies. Select Reject analytics cookies to keep it off. Both choices let you browse the website and contact us. We remember your choice for 180 days using the essential cookie below. If you delete it, change browser or use another device, we will ask again.
Use Cookie settings in the footer at any time to change your choice. Rejecting analytics after accepting it stops the theme's analytics, removes the first-party Google Analytics cookies it can access and reloads the page. This does not delete information already sent to Google.
Essential cookies and security
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| shelford_cookie_consent | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies. It does not identify you to Google. | 180 days |
Our contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to help distinguish genuine enquiries from automated abuse. This security check is separate from Google Analytics and is not switched off by rejecting analytics. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for how it processes security information. WordPress may also use essential authentication cookies when an authorised administrator signs in.
Optional Google Analytics cookies
The website contains a legacy Google Universal Analytics tag (UA-71973942-11). We only load it after you accept analytics cookies. Google has retired Universal Analytics, so this legacy tag does not provide current Universal Analytics reports. Accepting cookies does not activate a new Google Analytics 4 service.
If the legacy Google script sets cookies, the following names and standard lifetimes can apply. They help distinguish browsers and visits and limit requests. Not every cookie is set on every visit, and your browser may shorten its lifetime.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Distinguishes browsers using a randomly generated identifier. | Up to 2 years |
| _gid | Distinguishes browsers over a short period. | Up to 24 hours |
| _gat or _gat_* | Limits the rate of analytics requests. | Up to 1 minute |
Loading Google's script sends connection information, including your IP address and browser information, to Google. Analytics requests may also contain the page address and referral information. The theme requests IP anonymisation for its legacy analytics tag. See Google's cookie information and Google's privacy policy for more about Google's processing, including processing outside the UK.
Browser controls
You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may affect features such as remembering your choice. If JavaScript is disabled, this theme does not load Google Analytics and the cookie choice buttons are unavailable.
